Why should you learn UNIX? There are some reasons why you should learn it:

• You have more control of the operating system
• You will have access to powerful tools
• UNIX can do a lot more than GUI tools, it gives you more flexibility
• Most of the time, it is faster to issue commands in UNIX than using GUI tools
• At times, there are times where command lines are the only option such as SSH or secure shell
• It is very helpful to understand UNIX, especially if you are a web developer
